Want to connect with another working mom? Trade pumping war stories. Mine involves 36 hours of hand expressing after leaving pump parts in a factory in China. Another friend pumped in the cockpit next to the pilot in a grounded plane.
Breastfeeding my first was probably the hardest thing I've ever done. Today I'm excited to launch Uplift's Pump Like a Pro guide, with tips from dozens of moms on how to make pumping a little easier. Here is a sneak peek at some of my faves:
Don't wash your pump parts between sessions, store them in a ziplock in the fridge and clean them at the end of the day
Take a video of your baby nursing and watch that on your phone to trick your brain into producing milk.
Pump directly into bags -- one less thing to clean!
Make your mother's room a place of love. Print out photos of your baby for the wall and leave notes for other moms - "You've got this!"
Keep the time blocked off on your calendar once you decide to stop pumping. Use it as catch-up time throughout the day
