Chloe started a scrapbook for our trip to Paris. I pulled out one that a cousin had given me of my wedding and came across Joe and my wedding vows. Rereading them was the biggest boost in happiness I’ve had in a long while.
So this week, reread something that means a ton to you . . . wedding vows or a beautiful letter from a friend. Here are mine to just reminiscence one more time. They still ring true. . .
Mine: I’ve loved seeing you grow into the man you are today. A man I admire. A man who challenges me to be a better version of myself. You are my best friend, my favorite person in the world. I love you.
Today I promise to be a partner for life. I can’t promise to be perfect, but I promise to listen, learn and understand. I promise to challenge you to be a better person while still accepting who you are. I promise to prioritize our relationship and family because this is what matters. I love you.
His: Kari, I love you for your beauty, your intelligence, your optimism. I love you because you make me happier than I’ve ever been and more complete than I thought I ever could be. Most of all, I love you because you are my best friend, and I could never imagine spending the rest of my life without you. Kari, I promise I will always love you.
(Stil tearing up just typing this.)
