F*ck Yeah

Updated: Aug 23, 2018

At Google, I ran a daily team meeting tackling the onslaught of issues arising during a critical pre-launch period.  It was depressing. We all ended the meeting looking like we’d been hit by a bus.

I knew I needed to change it, so added a standing intro agenda item — “F*ck Yeahs!”  We went around the horn and shared all the great things that had happened in the past 24 hours. Everything from signing a new partner to our favorite cheese being restocked in the micro-kitchens.  It became a rallying cry for the team.

As working moms, we could all use a few more ‘f*ck yeahs’ in our life.  On Mondays, I write down mine from the week before.  Just the process of celebrating my little wins makes me feel better, and I come back to this list if I’m feeling really discouraged.

Here was mine for the past week:

  • 'No meeting week' at work, so I can be more productive in less time!

  • Meeting a new cool mom with kids the exact same age in our neighborhood

  • The kids actually helping with laundry (matching socks and folding wash cloths)

  • My 4 year old stopping her unexplainable streak of pooping in her pants everyday

  • Acing the presentation I have been working on for the past few weeks

F*ck yeah!!

What are yours?

Stress management can be made easy by initiating gratitude. What are you grateful for today?
